South African Clinical Training Fellowship in Pain Management
Interested candidates from developing African countries are invited to apply for a THREE (3) month clinical training program in Pain Management to be run in the Republic of South Africa.
This training program is intended to develop clinical skills
in Pain Management in an African doctor, who must be willing to share their
learned skills in their country of origin.
The successful candidate must agree to return to their
country to work towards developing pain services for those in need.
The training consists of:

6 week rotation in Cape Town, where the trainee
will be exposed to palliative care and acute & chronic pain management
services
·
6 week rotation in Johannesburg, where the
trainee will work in a University Chronic Pain Management Unit
The successful candidate will have to be registered as a
foreign trainee with the Health Professions Council of South Africa before
he/she is able to start the program.
Minimum Requirements:

Medical doctor registered with the regulatory
authority in their county of work
·
Specialty qualification in Anesthesiology,
Neurology, Internal Medicine or Psychiatry
·
Must be willing to relocate to South Africa for
a consecutive three month period
What the fellowship offers:
·
Return economy class airfare to South Africa
·
1 X economy domestic economy class airline
ticket between Johannesburg and Cape Town
·
Daily stipend of ZAR 100-00 for the three month
training period
·
Accommodation in doctors quarters (or
equivalent) for the duration of the fellowship
